Key Responsibilities:
- Develop conceptual designs, solutions, and product specifications according to end-user needs.
- Conduct in-house programming and testing for PLC/OIT/HMI systems.
- Perform onsite tasks for municipal clients, including instrumentation setup, installation support, and control system/process startup and testing.
- When sufficiently skilled, the Automation Engineer will be required to be available for on-call support 24/7 to resolve instrumentation and control system issues. On-call duties are rotated weekly among staff, with an expected initial response time of less than 15 minutes for outages unless prior arrangements have been made.
- Occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
Qualifications:
- A relevant Engineering or Technology degree from an ABET-accredited institution.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience as an Electrical/Controls Engineer, focusing on design, programming, installation, and startup tasks.
- At least 5 years' experience programming Allen-Bradley Logix platform PLCs.
- 5+ years of fieldwork experience, including panel wiring, startup, and emergency troubleshooting.
- 5+ years' experience in SCADA software development (FactoryTalk View SE, Ignition, Wonderware, VTSCADA, or iFix).
- 3+ years' experience programming Allen-Bradley PanelView or similar touch screens.
- Strong computer and networking skills are essential, with advanced proficiency being a significant advantage.
- Excellent oral, written, and digital communication skills are required.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues and facilitate communication with clients, customers, engineers, and contractors.
- Strong organizational skills for efficient task management and time utilization.
- Commitment to ongoing self-development and learning to maintain technical proficiency.
- Must provide personal transportation (reimbursable) for travel to various locations.
