Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Execute Media Strategies: Develop and execute media strategies to support business objectives and build organisational reputation.
  • Draft High-Quality Media Materials: Draft high-quality media materials, including press releases, talking points, and social media content.
  • Identify and Generate Positive Media Stories: Identify and generate positive media stories that showcase the organisation's achievements and initiatives.
  • Provide Media Advice and Manage Stakeholder Relationships: Provide media advice and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, industry leaders, and media representatives.
  • Organise Media Events and Manage Media-Related Logistics: Organise media events, such as press conferences and media briefings, and manage media-related logistics, including travel arrangements and accommodation.
  • Contribute to the On-Call Roster and Respond to Media Enquiries: Contribute to the on-call roster and respond to media enquiries outside regular business hours, providing timely and accurate information to the media.
  • Monitor Media Coverage and Provide Reports: Monitor media coverage and provide regular reports on media activity, including media mentions, press releases, and social media engagement.
Essential Criteria
  • Proven Media Relations Experience: Proven experience in media relations, including developing and executing media strategies, drafting media materials, and managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong Writing Skills: Strong writing skills, with the ability to produce effective media materials, including press releases, talking points, and social media content.
  • Ability to Manage Stakeholder Relationships: Ability to manage stakeholder relationships, including government officials, industry leaders, and media representatives.
  • Solid Understanding of the Media Landscape: Solid understanding of the media landscape, including media trends, formats, and platforms.
Desirable Criteria
  • Background in Journalism: Background in journalism, including experience in writing, editing, and producing media content.
  • Experience Working in Government or Local Government Environments: Experience working in government or local government environments, including experience in media relations, communications, and stakeholder engagement.
