Job Title: Financial Services Accountant

Job Description: We seek a highly skilled and experienced Financial Services Accountant to join our team. As a key member of the finance department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality finance support to the operation of our organization and its entities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Process daily payments, receipts, bank reconciliations, and journals using integrated accounting packages.
  • Prepare debtor invoices, recurring payment vouchers, journal vouchers, and bank transfers.
  • Maintain a daily cash flow record for all entities using the Diocese treasury function.
  • Respond to inquiries from clients, debtors, and creditors regarding financial matters.
  • Complete end-of-month reports, including Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss, and Program income and expenditure statements.
  • Distribute client bank statements at the end of each month.

Payroll Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll on a fortnightly basis.
  • Answer payroll queries via phone, email, or written correspondence.
  • Prepare and lodge QLeave quarterly reports.
  • Run end-of-year payroll.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in business or commerce or a similar discipline.
  • Membership of a professional accounting body.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting and finance processes for data entry of receipts and payments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in finance office administration practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of payroll processes and principles.
  • Understanding of financial accounting principles and the preparation of financial statements.
  • An understanding of GST.
  • A current driver's license.
  • Appropriate experience (minimum 5 years) in a financial accounting or similar office environment.
  • Proven ability to use SharePoint and Microsoft Office software.
  • Experience in the application and/or use of computerized accounting/funds management systems.
  • Active involvement in various financial accounting processes up to the preparation of financial reports.
  • Experience in payroll operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team setting.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Behavior consistent with Catholic social teachings.
  • A high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
