Research Scientist Opportunity in Biofabrication

UNSW Australia Research Position
We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Fellow to join our team at the School of Chemistry, UNSW Sydney. This exciting opportunity is part of an interdisciplinary project focusing on biofabrication, stem cell and tissue engineering, with a particular emphasis on organoid bioengineering from pluripotent stem cells.
About the Role
- $110k - $117k plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading
- Fixed Term – 2 years
- Full-time (35 hours per week)
The successful candidate will work in a BSL2 laboratory and be responsible for daily mammalian cell culture, cell and molecular biology characterisation, recombinant DNA techniques, polymer synthesis and bioconjugation, 3D bioprinting, and imaging using light and electron microscopes.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cell and tissue culture in a BSL2 laboratory.
- Develop tuneable 3D hydrogel biomaterials and encapsulate cells, spheroids and organoids.
- Contribute to the writing of scientific papers and reports for international journals and progress reporting to other researchers and industry partners.
- Assist with the coordination of research activities and actively contribute to research outputs to meet project milestones.
- Participate in and/or present at conferences and/or workshops relevant to the project as required.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or a related field.
- Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
