Hospital Scientist Leadership Role

The Senior Hospital Scientist position is a leadership role within the Haemostasis laboratory section, responsible for overseeing daily operations and staff activities.
- Maintain instrumentation and methodologies in the Haemostasis laboratory, ensuring timely and accurate result reporting.
- Establish and monitor quality control systems to ensure compliance with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Lead training and education initiatives for laboratory staff, promoting ongoing professional development and competency.
- Contribute to laboratory management through inventory oversight, supplier engagement, incident response, and service improvement initiatives.
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have a degree in Science or Medical Laboratory Science, with recent experience in Haemostasis and Special Haemostasis testing. They will be proficient in using laboratory information systems and possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:Haemostasis Laboratory Operations
The Senior Hospital Scientist will oversee daily operations in the Haemostasis laboratory, including instrument maintenance and methodological implementation.
- Implement new methods and technologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy of results.
- Analyze data and identify areas for improvement in laboratory processes.
Quality Control and Assurance
The Senior Hospital Scientist will establish and monitor quality control systems to ensure compliance with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement quality assurance plans to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality results.
- Monitor and report on quality metrics to senior management and external auditors.
Laboratory Staff Development
The Senior Hospital Scientist will lead training and education initiatives for laboratory staff, promoting ongoing professional development and competency.
- Design and deliver training programs to enhance staff knowledge and skills.
- Evaluate training effectiveness and make recommendations for future improvements.
Laboratory Management
The Senior Hospital Scientist will contribute to laboratory management through inventory oversight, supplier engagement, incident response, and service improvement initiatives.
- Manage laboratory supplies and resources to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
- Engage with suppliers to negotiate prices and improve product quality.
- Respond to incidents and emergencies in the laboratory, implementing procedures to minimize disruption to services.
The ideal candidate for this role will have a Bachelor's degree in Science or Medical Laboratory Science, with recent experience in Haemostasis and Special Haemostasis testing.
