About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our team in Canberra, Australia. As a key member of our project delivery team, you will play a critical role in the successful delivery of the Canberra Light Rail Stage 2 A project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage on-site engineering functions through subordinates, including Project Engineers and Cost/Planning Engineers.
  • Obtain relevant design parameter information for incorporation into detailed designs and construction specifications.
  • Monitor quality and quantities of incoming equipment and material, check work drawings, construction, and specifications against site plans and conditions, and arrange corrections or modifications where necessary.
  • Coordinate the activities of an engineering team, programme workloads, and provide technical and administrative guidance to the engineering staff to ensure aims and objectives are effectively and economically achieved.
  • Ensure project engineering completion is on time and within budget.
  • Record completed work, costs incurred, materials used, and retain progress drawings.
  • Accurate forecasts of costs and revenue and utilise corrective action in line with JH's authority and reporting frameworks to maximise the profit margin.
  • Assign work and assist with reviews for accuracy and adherence to required standards of supplier, subcontractor quotations/purchase orders, as well as subcontractor arrangements.
  • Participate in planning future requirements, including machine tools, ancillary equipment, major plant, and labour.
  • Direct site surveys and preparatory work prior to construction.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and planning authorities to ensure satisfactory completion of structures and construction work.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated 10+ years of site-based experience with a Tier 1/2 head contractor in Australia.
