About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Energy Sector Policy Strategist to join our team at the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS). As a key member of our Energy Policy Group, you will play a critical role in shaping the energy sector for the benefit of Western Australians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of policy and/or program initiatives and regulatory reform projects to improve protections for all types of energy consumers receiving supplies and services through various business models.
  • Develop and deliver complex policy projects, programs, or regulatory reforms to achieve strategic objectives, working closely with stakeholders and colleagues.
  • Build and lead high-performing teams to drive innovation and success in the energy sector.
  • Negotiate persuasively and actively listen to stakeholders, including government agencies, industry representatives, and community groups.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of policy initiatives and make recommendations for improvement.

What You'll Need

  • A proven track record of leading policy development and implementation, with a strong understanding of the energy sector.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing budgets and resources to achieve project goals.
  • A high level of proficiency in policy analysis, development, and evaluation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
