Job Title: Senior Optical Network Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Optical Network Specialist to join our team at The State Of Queensland. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality optical network infrastructure services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical leadership for the Optical network infrastructure, ensuring it aligns with the Queensland Government's strategic ICT objectives.
  • Take a leadership role in coordinating the provision of technical advice on Optical Network configuration, specification, design, evaluation, architecture, and standards.
  • Manage the technical aspects of CITEC's Fibre infrastructure, including liaison with external carriers, vendors, and building owners for optical cabling delivery.
  • Audit and maintain optical assets and lifecycle renewals.
  • Ensure good governance and documentation of processes by networks staff.
  • Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders associated with the services managed by your team.
  • Identify opportunities to ensure value, synergies, and innovation are leveraged in current and future optical and carriage network services.
  • Lead and support innovation and improvements in efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Monitor the telecommunications market for new products and services to QGN and its clients.
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience as a Senior Optical Network Specialist working in a Service Provider environment.
  • Experience and competency in a range of technical disciplines as specified in the Appendix A 'Technical Competencies'.
  • Capability in network design for large-scale Optical network upgrades and implementations.
  • High level of experience in complex network problem resolution.
  • Project Management skills in successfully delivering medium to large-scale network projects or migrations.
  • Highly effective skills in time management, self-motivation, communication, and negotiation.
