Leading a forward-thinking organisation at the intersection of agriculture, data and innovation, you will play a pivotal role in driving commercial success through data-driven solutions.

The successful candidate will lead DataGene's strategic, financial and operational direction with a strong focus on commercial growth, innovation and key stakeholder engagement. They will be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, expanding our commercial footprint and enhancing our reputation as a leader in agricultural data services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead strategic, financial and operational planning to drive commercial growth
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities in domestic and international markets
  • Expand our commercial footprint and enhance our reputation in the industry
  • Represent DataGene nationally and internationally, building strategic partnerships and driving innovation across the agribusiness sector

This is a dynamic and challenging role within a complex, data-rich environment. The successful candidate will oversee a diverse portfolio including genetic evaluation, database development, software development, strategic consulting and international collaborations. They will require strong leadership skills, a proven commercial mindset, technical acumen and the ability to navigate varied stakeholder interests across agribusiness.

Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in agribusiness, ideally with exposure to the dairy industry and agricultural data services
  • Proven track record in people leadership, commercial business development and delivering growth in digital or data-driven environments
  • Experience in leading research or industry-led program development and implementation
  • Strong strategic thinking and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build and maintain high-impact partnerships
  • Demonstrated success in implementing organisational strategy and driving performance
  • Strong financial acumen and governance experience, with a whole-of-business leadership approach
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation and delivering measurable outcomes
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (agricultural science, animal science, business, MBA or related fields)
  • Willingness to travel and represent DataGene frequently, including interstate, regional and internationally

An understanding of herd improvement systems and global genetic evaluation programs is desirable but not essential.
