This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high-impact project that will shape the future of Defence naval operations.

We are seeking a skilled Naval Architect to join our team and contribute to the design, analysis, and construction of various types of vessels and marine structures. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure our projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Naval Architect/Aeronautical) and experience working with naval architecture software. You will also have a strong understanding of ship structural designs, familiarity with ship systems design, and proficiency in naval architecture software. Additionally, you will be able to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and develop plans for new vessels, including hull form, stability, and structural design.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and performance evaluations of marine vessels.
  • Use advanced software tools to create detailed models and technical drawings.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their requirements and provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Perform stability, hydrodynamic, and structural analyses to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and classification society standards.
  • Coordinate with other departments and external stakeholders to facilitate the construction and delivery of vessels.
  • Prepare and review technical specifications, reports, and documentation.
