Job Description

Purpose of the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic WHS Consultant to collaborate with our business in developing and implementing comprehensive wellbeing, health, and safety programs. Your expertise will be crucial in formulating policies and procedures to ensure a safe workforce while meeting all Work Health and Safety (WHS) obligations.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide Expert Advice: Offer informed recommendations on WHS risks and issues to enable management decision-making.
  • Incident Management: Oversee incident management processes, ensuring timely reporting, investigation, and resolution of workplace incidents.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify and mitigate workplace risks through regular safety audits and assessments, fostering a high-performance WHS culture focused on risk awareness and safe work practices.
  • Return-to-Work Programs: Develop and manage return-to-work programs that support injured employees while maintaining operational continuity.
  • Continuous Improvement: Enhance WHS management systems in collaboration with operations, employees, and key stakeholders to address emerging needs.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Monitor and report on compliance with WHS legislation and internal policies, recommending improvements as needed.
  • Training and Development: Facilitate WHS training programs to ensure all staff understand health and safety policies and practices.
  • Health, Safety & Wellbeing Roadmap: Support the implementation of the roadmap and related initiatives.

Essential Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline and/or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • In-depth knowledge of Work Health and Safety laws, regulations, and industry standards to ensure compliance and effective risk management.
  • Experience in managing workplace incidents, including investigation techniques, reporting protocols, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Proficiency in conducting safety audits and risk assessments, with the ability to identify hazards and develop strategies for risk reduction.
  • Knowledge of best practices in return-to-work strategies, including rehabilitation processes and support for injured employees.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with employees, management, and stakeholders, fostering a collaborative approach to health and safety.
