About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security Officer to support our Agency's Cyber Security Operations (CSO) capability. This role is responsible for governing through providing a strong cyber security culture, identifying assets and associated security risks, protecting by implementing controls, detecting through the use of SIEM and vulnerability management, responding to and recovering from cyber incidents.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Management of the cyber security operations tool set, including SEIM platform, Vulnerability Scanning System, and Certificate management, Privileged Access Management, Multi-factor Authentication.
  • Analyse and respond to security events and alerts.
  • Undertake penetration testing.
  • Providing Cyber Security Advice to technical and non-technical staff.
  • Identification and mitigation of system vulnerabilities.
  • Produce and publish security education and awareness.
  • Assist with the development of cyber security related policies and procedures.
  • Assist the assistant director in the delivery of the Cyber Security Strategy.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate experience in a cyber security discipline as well as supporting a team to achieve outcomes in the cyber security field. You must have demonstrated experience in cyber security event and incident management, manage and action tasking requests for the cyber security operations team, and experience with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), Information Security Manual (ISM) or industry frameworks (NIST, ISO70001, CIS). You should also be able to communicate effectively both internally and externally, develop and maintain productive working relationships, provide accurate and specialised advice, and work with independence subject to limited direction against established priorities, practices, and methodologies to deliver quality outcomes.

Desirable attributes include experience in administering systems for vulnerability management, centralised logging and event management, and Privileged Access Management, Penetration testing, managing Digital Certificates and PKI infrastructure, implementing Multi-factor Authentication, threat hunting, vulnerability assessment, and reporting. Additionally, current or ability to attain academic or Industry qualifications in cyber security or related disciplines.

The estimated salary for this position is $90,199 - $101,745 per annum, based on location in Canberra and national average salaries.
