Student Mental Health Advisor

Job Overview:

The Student Mental Health Advisor will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and governance for statewide student mental health services. They will work closely with schools and regions to develop effective programs and systems that promote the wellbeing of Queensland state school students.

About This Role:

  • Provide high-level guidance and support to social workers and wellbeing professionals in the delivery of mental health services.
  • Develop strategies and initiatives to address mental health concerns and promote whole-school approaches to supporting student wellbeing.
  • Lead the development of onboarding processes for social workers and university practicum students from graduate programs.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify areas of improvement and implement changes that enhance the delivery of mental health services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement statewide mental health policies and procedures.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on mental health best practices to schools and regions.
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform policy decisions and program development.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and educational institutions.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Social Work or related field.
  • Extensive experience in mental health service delivery, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
