Research Associate in Hydrogen Storage Materials Position

The School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at UNSW Australia is seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to join its team. The successful candidate will work on a project focused on the design and advanced manufacture of carbon composite H2 tanks for heavy mobility, investigating the mechanical and adsorbent properties of Metal Organic Framework (MOF) hydrogen storage materials.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a researcher to develop their industry research and professional activities, participate in conferences and workshops, and assist with the supervision of students. The successful candidate will report to A/Prof. Garth Pearce and will have no direct reports.
Key responsibilities include:
- Undertaking high-quality academic research and conducting independent research with limited supervision
- Developing and implementing research projects and strategies
- Collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve research objectives
- Communicating research findings and results to stakeholders
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a related discipline, such as Mechanical/Aerospace/Materials/Manufacturing Engineering. They will also have a proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
Additionally, the successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines, and build effective relationships. They will also have evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
This is a fixed-term contract for 24 months, and the salary range is AUD $110,059 to $117,718 per annum, plus 17% superannuation. The successful candidate will be based in Kensington, Sydney, Australia.
