The Australian Space Agency is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the role of Space Programs Assistant Director. This position will play a critical role in shaping Australia's space activities and contributing to the country's economic resilience, social cohesion, environmental sustainability, and national security.
About the Role
- This is an exciting opportunity for a technical expert with experience in space projects and program management to join the Australian Space Agency and contribute to the development of Australia's space capability.
- You will work closely with government agencies, industry partners, and academia to identify and develop new program opportunities that align with Australia's space objectives.
- Your expertise will be crucial in providing strategic guidance, leading cross-functional teams, and ensuring effective program delivery, including budgeting, resource allocation, and risk management.
- You will also provide subject matter expertise on space systems, mission design, operations, and robotics, as well as representing the agency at national and international forums.
- In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on high-profile programs such as the Moon to Mars initiative and contribute to the growth and development of the Australian space sector.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- A degree or equivalent in STEM topics and/or relevant professional experience is mandatory.
- Relevant experience in program management and background in the space sector is highly regarded.
- You must be able to facilitate the development and successful shepherding of technical advice for mission assurance and apply strategic thinking to achieve outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills are essential for building coalitions of support among disparate stakeholder groups.
