At Amazon, we're building a cloud infrastructure that's scalable, reliable, and secure. Our team of engineers works tirelessly to design, deploy, and operate our global network, ensuring that our customers have access to the resources they need.

We're looking for a skilled Network Development Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our networking organization, you'll be responsible for scaling, deploying, and improving our next-generation networks.

The AWS Networking organization is hiring, and we're looking for talented individuals who want to help us confront and solve complex challenges. Our data center networks provide high-bandwidth and low-latency solutions for aggregating server racks, interconnecting data centers in our regional backbone, and interconnecting our data centers to our Border network.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Scale, Deploy, and Improve Networks: You'll work closely with our broader Network Capacity, Network Availability, and Design Engineering Teams to ensure we deploy highly scalable and available networks.
  2. Deliver Sustainable Solutions: You'll leverage automation to improve deployment velocity and safety, and drive standards across the network to ensure compliance with policies.
  3. Troubleshoot Issues: You'll identify and troubleshoot recurring platform issues for full resolution, and create and review documentation for new standard operating procedures and knowledge transfer material.
  4. Drive Process Improvement: You'll identify opportunities to repeatable tasks through creation and maintenance of scripts and tools, and participate in driving impact mitigation during large-scale events.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Large-Scale Networking Experience: You'll have experience working in large-scale networking environments, with 2+ years of internet routing protocols and concepts: TCP/IP, BGP, MPLS, ISIS, and/or OSPF.
  2. Automation Scripting: You'll have experience in automation scripting in any language (Python, bash, shell).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Network Analysis Fundamentals: You'll have knowledge of network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills; specifically, network performance analysis.
  2. Linux/Unix Environment: You'll have experience working in a Linux/Unix environment.
  3. Customer-Facing Experience: You'll have experience working with customers to diagnose problems and work toward resolution.
