About the Role:

Kestrel Coal Resources is seeking a highly skilled Mining Engineer to join our Technical Services team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting the ongoing operations and facilitating improvements in mine planning and execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Senior Mining Engineer in developing and updating the underground mine plan to safely and efficiently maximize coal recovery.
  • Provide technical advice on mine design critical risks and ensure the mine plan is accurate and optimized to meet business requirements.
  • Establish and maintain the short-term mine schedule, analyzing and interpreting relevant data to inform decision-making.
  • Investigate enhancements to standards, procedures, and processes in mine planning to achieve improvements in safety, reliability, performance, job satisfaction, and productivity.
  • Provide advice and support across the business to initiate and drive productivity improvements.
  • Manage contractors under supervision to ensure compliance with KCR systems and add value to the core business.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in departmental audits, observations, and safety inspections to demonstrate commitment to monitoring and reviewing processes.
  • Provide notification, investigation, reporting, and recording of accidents and incidents as required by site policy and legislation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining, Survey, or Geoscience-related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years' experience in the mining industry, preferably in underground coal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and CAD.
  • Knowledge of underground coal mining methods and systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to perform in time-pressure situations and meet identified deadlines.
