The Role

We are seeking a Geotechnical Dams Engineer to join our Perth-based Dams Services Team. The successful candidate will provide professional on and off-site geotechnical dams engineering support for domestic and international projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage proposal and tender documents to a high standard.
  • Prepare technical reports and deliverables in a format and style that is professional, readily understood, and satisfies the specific requirements of the project scope.
  • Provide expertise, review, and comment on complex civil and geotechnical aspects of dams and tailings projects, modeling, and reporting.
  • Ensure specifications, designs, and analysis meet project requirements.
  • Embark on dam seepage and slope stability assessments.
  • Conduct risk assessments of earth and tailings dams in accordance with ANCOLD and GISTM guidelines.
  • Perform dam safety inspections, audits, reviews, and assessments in accordance with ANCOLD and ICOLD guidelines.
  • Design and supervise the construction of earthworks related to tailings and water dams, heap leach pads, and foundation earthworks.
  • Design, surveil, and audit instrumentations and monitoring systems.
  • Interpret site investigation reports and advanced in-situ testing.
  • Numerical modeling and analysis of earth structures.
  • Hydraulic design for dams and spillways.
  • Prepare contract documents and drawings.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering. Post-graduate qualification in geotechnical or dams engineering is highly regarded.
  • A minimum 5 years' relevant, applied experience.
  • Experience in the dams consulting industry, with exposure to water or tailings dams, heap leach pads, or other mining waste dump projects.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Advanced time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • A willingness to work effectively as an integral part of a team.
  • Well-developed data interpretation and management skills, data analysis, and data management proficiency.
  • Commitment to travel interstate and internationally as required.
