We're seeking a talented Assistant Category Manager to join our Coles Group team. As a key member of our Commercial group, you'll play a vital role in driving category sales and developing strong supplier relationships.

About the Role

You'll be responsible for managing the promotional trade plan, working closely with global and domestic suppliers, and leading trade planning and ranging of new product categories. Your expertise in procurement, project management, and merchandising will be essential in delivering against our category strategy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing forecasting and range reviews
  • Collecting, inputting, and maintaining category data, including promotional systems and data systems
  • Delivering against the overall category strategy
  • Executing category pricing, promotion, range selection, and layout development
  • Developing strong supplier relationships to effectively partner and execute goals
About You and Your Skills

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Strong commercial acumen with experience applying it to interpret industry dynamics and competitive retail landscape
  • Skills in procurement/sourcing of products
  • Project Management skills and experience
  • Knowledge of the merchandising function and processes
  • Demonstrated analytical skills through proactively sourcing customer insights and data to formulate category recommendations
  • Ability to build and articulate category strategy
  • Cross-functional experience with teams to manage and execute projects
  • Developed communication skills and strong negotiation and influencing skills, with both internal and external stakeholders
