The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Fire Communications Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, where you will play a critical role in responding to emergency situations and providing critical support to our emergency responders.
Key Responsibilities- Accept incoming emergency calls and assess the situation to determine the appropriate response.
- Dispatch and coordinate emergency resources, including fire trucks and emergency personnel.
- Maintain and update incident information in our computer-aided dispatch system.
- Provide critical support to emergency responders, including providing information and resources as needed.
- Monitor alarm signals and respond accordingly.
- Contribute to the improvement of operational and administrative systems and procedures.
- Currently holds a valid Blue Card (from Blue Card Services), with attached evidence to support.
- Australian Citizenship, New Zealand Citizenship or Australian Resident Status.
- Have or ability to obtain Certificate III in Public Safety (Emergency Communications Centre Operations).
- Ability to successfully complete training programs of the 'Communications Training and Professional Development Program (CTPDP) at the prescribed level.
- Typing speed of 45 wpm with 95% accuracy.
- Have or ability to obtain a Apply First Aid and CPR Certificates.
As a Fire Communications Officer with QFES, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, where you will be challenged to think critically and respond quickly to emergency situations. You will also have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in emergency communications and response, and to contribute to the improvement of our operational and administrative systems and procedures.
