Your Role:

As an Underwriter with Chubb, you will be responsible for meeting production and profitability targets by underwriting new business, endorsements, or renewals. You will also be expected to build relationships with new producers and service existing producers to achieve their annual goals.

Your Responsibilities:

We are seeking a highly skilled Underwriter who can:

  • Monitor profitability of portfolio and provide constructive feedback to improve if required.
  • Evaluate, accept, or decline new business, endorsements, or renewal business based on underwriting guidelines.
  • Collate underwriting information and refer risks outside the scope of authorities issued or underwriting guidelines to the Unit Manager with recommendations.
  • Monitor competitors' products and recommend changes to our wording to sustain competitive advantage.
  • Establish and build new relationships with potential producers who have prospective business that meets our underwriting guidelines.
  • Monitor workloads and advise Unit Managers if assistance is required due to exceptional circumstances, seasonal business loads, or personal vacation.
  • Assist brokers with product and business queries, colleagues, and Managers with product and business queries, and members of the appraisal section and claims department with any queries.
  • Undertake practical measures to ensure the workplace is safe and without risk to health.

  • Organisational and analytical skills.
  • Policy documentation, including terms and conditions.
  • Underwriting policy practice.
  • Understanding the appraisal services.
  • Front-End, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Product range in the Personal Lines Department.
  • Understanding the underwriting appetite of other Departments.
  • Insurance industry and Chubb's position in the market.
