Position Overview
The IT Security Designer is tasked with the creation, evaluation, and ongoing oversight of IT security measures across the IT infrastructure. You will play a pivotal role in guiding strategic initiatives and contributing to security roadmaps. This position serves as a vital link between the IT Security team and enterprise stakeholders, ensuring that projects and initiatives are executed securely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the authority in crafting effective IT security measures that align with industry best practices while considering the organization's risk tolerance.
- Offer IT security guidance regarding the suitability and timing of security enhancements, including support for technology transitions.
- Collaborate with project delivery teams, enterprise architects, and solution designers to develop and implement enterprise security solutions that achieve business objectives.
- Evaluate and report on the maturity of security controls and identify gaps using established enterprise risk management frameworks, assisting in the formulation of remediation strategies.
- Oversee security assurance testing initiatives and ensure that mitigation strategies address identified vulnerabilities.
- Guarantee that IT security measures are robust and suitable for the evolving needs of a rapidly growing and diverse organization.
- Gather, analyze, and present intelligence data and trends for executive insights and strategic planning.
- Provide expertise in evaluating and deploying processes and technologies to counter emerging IT threats and vulnerabilities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and relevant standards.
- Assess projects for security risk exposure and establish appropriate management strategies.
- Deliver comprehensive and meaningful business reports on security initiatives and programs.
- In collaboration with Architecture teams, implement suitable IT security design patterns, frameworks, and supporting processes.
- Design and maintain data flows that adhere to security policies, standards, and regulatory mandates.
- Provide expertise in designing and supervising the implementation of controls to detect suspicious activities.
- Ensure that IT systems are equipped with adequate controls to identify and respond to potential threats or breaches within the internal network.
About You
- Proven experience in a similar role with a strong focus on security design.
- Background in security design, consulting, and the delivery of essential organizational security capabilities within large and complex environments.
- Knowledge of Data Security controls and techniques, including Data Loss Prevention and Encryption.
- Familiarity with Information Security concepts such as risk management, security architecture, threat management, and security governance.
- Experience in cloud security design across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS models.
- Experience working within agile and waterfall project delivery methodologies.
- Understanding of security standards and IT governance frameworks, including ITIL, CSA, OWASP, Australian Privacy Principles, APRA, PCI DSS, NIST, ISO 27001, and ISM/ASD.
