About Us :

Marineland Croc Habitat has been a Queensland institution since 1954, evolving from 'Marineland' to 'Marineland Croc Park' in 1971.

Our founder George Craig spent over four decades working in Papua New Guinea and has brought his incredible collection of crocodiles, primitive tribal art, reef aquariums, marine turtles, historical nautical relics, and restored stationary engines to life.

About You :

  • You hold a graduate degree in Marine Biology or have equivalent experience in the marine aquaria or zoo industry.

Position Summary :

We are seeking an experienced Aquarium Specialist to oversee and maintain our aquariums' life support systems, coral propagation, and marine ornamental fish systems. As part of this role, you will conduct regular tests and reviews of current literature to ensure best practices are implemented.

You will work closely with our team, guiding them on safe animal feeding and exhibition practices. Your ability to assist in other departments is also essential due to our small team size.

Key Requirements :

  • You possess a high working knowledge of government requirements, relevant laws, and regulations for exhibiting animals in QLD and Australia.
  • You have a deep understanding of health and safety protocols when working with aquariums.
  • You are available to work weekends and public holidays.

Job Responsibility :

  • Create and deliver engaging public educational presentations.
  • Maintain aquarium life support systems, coral propagation, and marine ornamental fish systems.
  • Oversee and conduct husbandry and feeding operations for marine aquariums and sea turtles.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Lead our volunteer programs.
