As a Drone Operator with the Australian Defence Force, you will play a critical role in gathering vital information to support combat operations. You will remotely pilot a UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) to observe the battlefield, gather intelligence, and provide real-time information to commanders.
Key Responsibilities- Operate UAVs to gather aerial surveillance and intelligence
- Assist in flight planning and briefings to ensure safe and effective operations
- Liaise with air traffic control to maintain safe flying conditions
- Control the UAV in airspace with other manned and unmanned aircraft
- Assist in the defence of ground troops and perform general soldiering duties
You will need to be a multi-skilled team player with excellent problem-solving, technical aptitude, and effective communication skills. You will also need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment and make quick decisions under pressure.
Work EnvironmentYou will be primarily based in Gallipoli Barracks, Enoggera, Queensland, with opportunities to travel around Australia and abroad. You will work as part of a crew to operate the surveillance suite and control the aircraft in flight.
Training and DevelopmentYou will receive comprehensive training on the theory of flight, UAV operations, and surveillance techniques. You will also have opportunities for professional development and advancement within the Australian Defence Force.
