Clinical Coding Auditor/Educator Role

This is a key role that combines auditing and education within the hospital. It plays a critical part in refining healthcare data management, directly supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care.

The Clinical Coding Auditor/Educator will be responsible for reviewing clinical codes for accuracy and compliance, identifying and correcting coding errors, and creating and delivering training sessions on coding standards and best practices to clinical coders and clinicians.

They will also stay updated with regulatory changes and develop educational materials to support coding accuracy and adherence.

Collaboration with coding manager, coding teams, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals is essential to ensure the quality of coded data.

Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven experience with detailed knowledge of ICD-10-AM
  • Experience in conducting, documenting, and communicating quality improvement activities particularly as they pertain to the clinical coding area
  • Excellent standard of verbal and written communication skills, with excellent report writing and data presentation skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Strong knowledge of casemix measurement systems in relation to the hospital environment as well as current developments in activity based funding
  • Proven experience in database management, particularly using MS Access as well as proficiency in all MS Office products
  • Experience with computerised patient administration systems
