Job Title: Head of Strings

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced music educator to lead our Strings Department at Lowther Hall Anglican Grammar School.

About the Role:

The successful applicant will be a dynamic music educator, leader, and outstanding musician with a proven record of excellence in teaching and performance. They will be committed to their own learning and professional development, passionate about their field, and able to build a culture of success and enjoyment of their instrument by students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach and lead Strings classes to students from Kindergarten to Year 12
  • Develop and implement music curriculum and programs
  • Lead and manage the Strings Department, including staff and resources
  • Perform and teach a wide range of repertoire
  • Support the School's values and mission

Selection Criteria:

  • Highly developed skills as a Strings Teacher
  • Appropriate music education or tertiary music degree
  • Suzuki accreditation, an advantage
  • Experience performing and teaching a wide range of repertoire
  • Experience in leading teams of staff
  • Experience in and knowledge of AMEB and VCE syllabus and repertoire
  • A dynamic and approachable manner with the ability to relate to students
  • Success in fostering in girls a love of learning and a commitment to excellence
  • A proven record as an outstanding string teacher and leader
  • An understanding of the Lowther Hall context and requirement for ensuring child safety

Requirements:

  • Current Working with Children Check or VIT registration
  • Current Level 2 First Aid and CPR Certificate – with a commitment to on-going training
  • Willingness to undertake a National Criminal History Record Check upon appointment
