Chief Executive Officer – Breakthrough Victoria

Breakthrough Victoria is seeking a visionary leader to drive the execution of its investment plan and develop an organisational strategy to achieve its growth objectives.

About the Role

The Chief Executive Officer will engage with senior and influential stakeholders, including the Treasurer of Victoria, universities, research institutions, business leaders, and industry partners, to promote Breakthrough Victoria's mission and impact on Victoria's investment ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement an organisational strategy to achieve Breakthrough Victoria's growth objectives
  • Drive the execution of the organisation's investment plan
  • Engage with senior and influential stakeholders to promote Breakthrough Victoria's mission and impact
  • Foster an engaged and high-performing workforce culture
  • Ensure Breakthrough Victoria operates within a framework of best practice governance
Requirements

To be successful as Chief Executive Officer, you will be a visionary leader with substantial public and/or private sector experience in a CEO or senior executive role. A deep understanding of investment, asset management, equity management, venture capital, and start-ups will be vital, along with a strong grasp of industry innovation and the needs of innovators.

You will combine this with a proven track record of delivering strong commercial outcomes in complex organisational and regulatory environments. Your judgement and problem-solving skills will enable you to effectively assess risk in the context of uncertainty and innovation, and you will demonstrate the ability to navigate complex, high-profile, and high-risk issues while maintaining effective partnerships.
