About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Accountant to join our team at Shell Energy, a leading energy retailer in Australia. As a key member of our Group Finance Department, you will provide timely and accurate support services to the finance team and assist management in meeting the company's accounting needs and requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monthly and Recurring Accounting Tasks:
    • Prepare and process various month-end journals across the group's Corporate entities, generation, electricity retail, and energy solutions businesses;
    • Prepare monthly balance sheet and profit & loss reconciliations for Group entities;
    • Maintenance of the fixed assets register;
    • Assist with monthly BAS returns;
    • Assist with financial accounting, tax, and management accounting matters across the Group;
    • Payroll approvals;
    • Back-up for cash flow forecasting and settlement processing;
  • Other Tasks:
    • Assist with preparation of the annual group FBT return;
    • Assist with preparing the annual group financial reports;
    • Assist with preparation of the annual subsidiary financial reports;
    • Assist with internal control evaluations and process mapping;
    • Assist with preparation of technical accounting advice as required;
    • Administrative tasks such as payment approvals;
    • Other ad-hoc project work for group financial reporting; and
    • Provide back-up support for financial accounting tasks.
Requirements
  • Accounting or Finance Degree: Preferred and/or equivalent practical work experience;
  • CA or CPA Qualified: Essential;
  • Good Fundamental Accounting Knowledge: Essential;
  • Effective Communication Skills: Essential;
  • Excellent Attention to Detail and High Levels of Accuracy: Essential;
  • Experience in Using the SAP Software Platform: Preferred but not necessary;
  • Demonstrate Ability to Work Independently and as Part of a Team: Essential;
  • Willingness to Learn and Take on Additional Tasks: Essential;
  • Demonstrate Strong Skills in Problem Solving and Analytic Review: Essential;
  • Understanding of Confidentiality Requirements and Acting with Integrity: Essential;
  • Advanced Excel Skills and Skills in Other Microsoft Office Packages: Essential.
