About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Scholarships Officer to join our Workforce team at Lowitja Institute. In this dynamic and impactful position, you will play a key role in designing, promoting, and managing the application, assessment, and award processes for a diverse range of scholarships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and collaborate on key workforce development initiatives, applying strong project and contract management skills to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Co-design promotional assets for the scholarship program with the Communications and Events team.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships, both internally and externally, to enhance the Institute's research, education, and training impact.
  • Engage across various teams and settings, contributing to the ongoing development and implementation of Lowitja Institute Business Plan.
About You

You will bring experience in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and scholars through their formal education pathways. You will have a deep understanding of the social and cultural determinants of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing, backed by over four years of experience in project management, education, or related roles within Aboriginal community controlled organisations, government, NGOs, or the education and training sector.

You will have strong organisational and project management skills, enabling you to excel, consistently meeting tight deadlines and delivering results. You will have experience administering Smarty Grants or similar grant management systems. You have a talent for building and maintaining relationships, coupled with exceptional communication and networking skills that allow you to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

You are a highly motivated creative thinker, adept at anticipating challenges and finding solutions that lead to successful outcomes. Your ability to communicate sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is a key strength, and you actively contribute to a culturally safe environment. You hold relevant qualifications or are progressing towards them, and you're prepared for interstate travel and work outside regular hours as needed. Additionally, you have a Working with Children and Vulnerable Peoples Check, demonstrating your commitment to safety and wellbeing in all aspects of your work.
