We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Environmental Consultant to join our team in Sydney, Melbourne or Tasmania.

The successful candidate will provide expert advice and leadership in environmental approvals, leveraging their strong technical knowledge and business development skills to drive growth and success.

As a Principal Environmental Consultant, you will:

  • Utilize your expertise in environmental investigations, assessment, planning, and approvals to deliver high-quality projects.
  • Provide strategic environmental advice to clients across various sectors, focusing on coastal and maritime infrastructure works.
  • Build and maintain existing client relationships, while developing new ones to expand our APAC environment business.
  • Offer technical guidance, leadership, and mentoring to the national BMT environment team.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Liaise with potential and current clients to generate work, deliver services, and drive business development.
  • Perform high-quality, independent work requiring strong judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Serve as a technical specialist in environmental approvals, assessments, and project management.
  • Provide technical and business advice to management and delivery teams.
  • Supervise and review the work of external consultants and team members.
  • Share knowledge and mentor others within your area of expertise or across the business.
  • Contribute to thought leadership through writing, presenting, and social media engagement.
  • Undertake specific technical tasks, including environmental policies, stakeholder identification, regulatory approvals, and more.

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in environmental science, planning, engineering, or a relevant field.
  • More than 7 years' experience post-graduation.
  • Demonstrated experience in State and Commonwealth environmental approvals regimes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A solid technical background in environmental consulting.
  • Demonstrated business development skills.

We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on location and experience. In addition, we provide a performance-related bonus scheme, access to an Employee Assistance Programme, and opportunities for learning and development.
