About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Family Violence Practitioner to join our team in the Eastern Metropolitan Region. In this role, you will provide specialist family violence services to vulnerable families, working closely with Aboriginal clients who have been affected by family violence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver quality intake, assessment and referrals for Aboriginal women affected by family violence and their children.
  • Complete short-term case management, including crisis response, to support Aboriginal clients in need.
  • Engage respectfully and appropriately with Aboriginal clients, considering their cultural background and experiences.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement care plans that meet the needs of clients.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, including case notes, assessments, and closure reports.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or a related field.
  • A minimum of 12 months experience working in a Family Violence Program.
  • Comprehensive understanding of family violence theoretical frameworks and interventions.
  • Experience utilising MARAM training and approaches to support victim survivors and people who use violence.
  • Understanding of historical and contemporary issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
