About the Role

The Psychiatrist will be delivering psychiatric services at the Immigration Detention Centre clinic as part of a multidisciplinary mental health service. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing Consultant Psychiatrist-level mental health assessments and management
  • Working with a multidisciplinary team in IHMS sites to provide holistic mental health care
  • Collaborating with Medical Officers to provide supervision, training, and oversight of staff working with mental health patients
  • Providing recommendations regarding mental health care
  • Making recommendations and providing reports

Requirements

  • Specialist Psychiatrist qualification in country-of-origin equivalent to Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP)
  • Current AHPRA Registration
  • Minimum 2 years proven experience as a psychiatrist
  • Preferably forensic experience
  • Full working rights in Australia
