The Uniting Church in Australia is a large Christian denomination with around 250 congregations in Queensland, and services such as schools, colleges and community services.

Key objectives of this role include promoting God's mission and utilising church resources effectively.

This position plays a vital part in implementing Auslan within the service to support children, families and staff who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing quality play-based learning programs that integrate Auslan into the Early Years Learning framework and Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines.
  • Maintaining an engaging, safe and aesthetic learning environment based on child knowledge and national standards.
  • Collaborating with fellow educators to enhance professional development and implement effective teaching strategies.
  • Establishing strong relationships with families and children through clear communication.
  • Ensuring inclusive access to quality early childhood education for all.
  • Positively guiding children's behaviour and promoting empathy and respect.
  • Staying up-to-date with relevant legislation, frameworks, policies and guidelines to ensure compliance obligations.
  • Providing oral interpretation for deaf or hard-of-hearing students and modelling church values.
  • Identifying client-focused improvements and maintaining knowledge of child protection law.

Key duties involve assisting in preparing educational programs, engaging children in activities, participating in care and education tasks, and undertaking general cleaning responsibilities.
