About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Academic Mentorship and Support Professional to join our team in Albany. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the academic success and well-being of our scholars. Your primary responsibilities will include developing strong relationships with scholars, parents, and school staff, as well as facilitating their active participation in Yalari activities and events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet with scholarship students face-to-face on and off school campuses.
  • Develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including parents/guardians and partner school staff.
  • Facilitate students' active participation in Yalari activities and events.
  • Encourage and support students to reflect Yalari's core values.
  • Provide educational, social, and emotional support to students within a framework of increasing independence, relevant to the age of the student.
  • Encourage students to develop a robust sense of cultural self, maintain cultural connections, and actively participate in cultural activities.
  • Case management, including reporting and record-keeping as required by the position.
  • Work closely with others in the Yalari Student Support Team to support individual students and the wider Yalari student cohort across Australia.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, counselling, or a related field (advantageous but not essential).
  • Experience working with youths aged 12-17 years in a higher education setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional ability to build relationships with both Yalari scholars, their families, and the school.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of student support services and resources.
  • Aptitude for using technology-based case management systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Additional Requirements:

  • Availability to work outside of business hours, including after-school, evenings, and weekends.
  • Availability to travel at least four times each year to Yalari Head Office (Gold Coast) for training, development, and team-building sessions.
  • Full availability of contracted hours during the first and last week of all school terms and for the Yalari Orientation Camp held on the Gold Coast in mid-January each year.
  • Holding, or having the ability to hold, a current Working with Children Card and National Police check.
  • Having a non-restricted driver's license with a good driving record and use of your own vehicle with full comprehensive insurance.
  • Capacity to establish a home office with regular travel to partner school(s). The majority of contracted hours require face-to-face interaction with students at their boarding school(s).

Estimated Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
