**About the Position**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Western Health, leading the mental health services for older adults in our comprehensive mental health service.

As a Senior Psychiatrist, you will provide high standards of clinical care and leadership, working closely with multidisciplinary teams and disciplinary leads. You will also have opportunities for education and supervision of medical students, trainees, and junior staff.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Provide clinical leadership and guidance to the multidisciplinary team
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans for older adults with complex mental health needs
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to deliver person-centered care
  • Supervise and educate medical students, trainees, and junior staff
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to departmental meetings

**Requirements:**

  • Degree-qualified psychiatrist with experience at consultant level in aged psychiatry
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of current best practices in mental health care
  • Effective communication, consultation, and negotiation skills
  • Experience in education and training of medical students and junior staff
  • Knowledge of current relevant State and Commonwealth Government policies and agendas in mental health care delivery
