About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mental Health Clinician to join our team in Far North Queensland.

  • This role offers a chance to make a meaningful impact and provide specialized mental health support to children, parents, and carers in Normanton, Croydon, and Karumba.
Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will deliver 1:1 clinical counselling, including play-based therapy for young people and their parents, addressing challenges such as stress, grief, and trauma.

  1. Provide psycho-educational sessions for school staff to better support children dealing with anxiety and other learning difficulties.
  2. Collaborate with other providers to ensure comprehensive care and build strong partnerships to enhance the quality of service delivery.
Requirements
  • A postgraduate degree in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Mental Health Nursing.
  • Registration with AHPRA or membership of the AASW.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a relevant clinical field.
  • Demonstrated experience in brief interventions, therapeutic counselling, case management, and mental health education with children and young people.
  • An understanding of issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing.
