About The Role


We are seeking an experienced and skilled Heavy Diesel Plant Mechanic to join our dynamic team at Select Plant Australia.


This permanent, full-time position will be based out of our modern Select Plant Australia – Malaga Depot, where you will work collaboratively with a supportive and inclusive team.


In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing a diverse range of civil construction machinery (including excavators, loaders, cranes, telehandlers), power generators, and civil ancillary equipment, serving both internal and external clients. Tools of trade will be provided.


You will utilize your extensive diagnostic skills, commitment to quality control, and safe work practices, supported by our service workshop team.


Key Responsibilities


  • Perform skilled diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs across a wide range of plant and equipment.
  • Attend onsite maintenance and breakdowns as required, working efficiently to resolve issues.
  • Complete accurate service and breakdown reports.
  • Identify and requisition parts required to carry out repairs.
  • Comply with all company health and safety policies.
  • Carry out high-quality work, meeting OEM and industry requirements.
  • Adhere to all internal and external clients' site entry requirements and rules.

About You


To be considered for this role, you must meet the minimum requirements below:


Essential:


  • Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology (or equivalent)
  • Australian Driver's Licence - Manual C Class
  • Australian Construction Induction Card (Blue/White Card).
  • Unrestricted Australian Working Rights
  • Minimum 4+ years' experience as a Heavy/Civil Plant Mechanic (essential)
  • Well-rounded diagnostics skills across hydraulics, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Results-driven, positive attitude, and willingness to learn and develop new skills.

Highly Regarded but not Essential:


  • RIW Card
  • Higher class of driver's licence (HR, MR, MC)
  • Additional mechanical certifications (auto-electrics, air-conditioning, etc).
  • Additional plant or high-risk tickets (rigging, dogging, telehandler, EWP)

All candidates will undergo pre-employment medical screening and a national criminal background check.


Salary Range: AU$80,000 - AU$110,000 per annum
