About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Secondary Electrical Engineer to join our Power Utilities team based in Brisbane or Sydney.

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented professional to contribute to the development and delivery of solutions for our clients.

The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with our clients and internal stakeholders to effectively deliver projects to their expectations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and conducting professional engineering work on relevant aspects of EHV/HV Secondary Systems Strategic Planning and Conceptual Design (Protection, SCADA, Comms, Data Networks etc.)
  • Providing detail design services, consulting, recommending and advising on specialist engineering areas that include but not limited to: Protection Detailed Design (Protection Logic/Setting files, etc.), Primary Plant and Secondary Systems Equipment Specification and Procurement (CT, VT, CB, TFMR, etc.), Protection & Control Detail Schematics and Integration, Grid Metering, Power Quality and High Speed Monitoring Installations, Load flow, Fault level and dynamic studies and analysis, Engineering Network/Data Network Architecture and Configuration, Control System Detailed Design and Configuration (EMS and Substation Automation), Communication Systems (including Data Network and Bearer Network systems design), General AC & DC System Specification and Distribution Design, Power Generation (including large scale Solar, Wind and Battery Energy Storage systems) detailed design and system integration, etc.
  • Providing technical support to the Business Development and Tendering as required.
  • Assisting with site commissioning if required.
  • When required, assuming the role of Design (Package) Leader in accordance with the Company's Engineering procedures.
  • Planning, coordinating and mentoring other engineers.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.

To be considered for this role, applicants must have:

About You
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 5 years' experience in Design, integration & coordination, installation & commissioning of electrical systems and services for high voltage power systems.
  • Understanding and knowledge of secondary system design from basic concept development through to detailed design preferably Design-for-Construction environment, utility-based or engineering consultancy design experience.
  • Strong computer skills and industry experience in a diverse range of relevant Power System Protection and Automation software packages, equipment suppliers and products.
  • A proactive approach to continuously improving performance, deliverables and work efficiencies.
  • A positive approach to safety.
  • The ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent relationship building, problem solving, commercial and negotiation skills.
