Chief Financial Officer Opportunity

This is a unique chance to lead the financial operations of a prominent national membership association in Australia. As Chief Financial Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial functions of the organization and providing strategic financial guidance to the Executive Leadership Team and board.

The Challenge

The successful candidate will be tasked with driving change and improvement in the finance function, while also being directly involved in commercial matters and the strategic direction of the business. This will require a strong process improvement and change management mindset, as well as the ability to build relationships across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain timely financial and management reports for the organization
  • Lead the implementation of change and improvement initiatives in the finance function and company
  • Plan and direct the organization's strategic long-term financial goals and evaluate existing plans
  • Lead and deliver group financial accounting activities, including statutory reporting and taxation compliance
  • Lead and deliver budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Oversee and deliver business information insights and analytics
  • Play a key role in the assessment of strategic growth opportunities
  • Provide advisory support to the CEO to improve business performance and delivery of strategic projects
  • Risk management and governance
  • Perform Company Secretary responsibilities and initiatives
Requirements
  • CA/CPA qualified with relevant financial executive experience from a national membership association, professional services firm, or dynamic SME corporate
  • Ability to be hands-on with proven experience driving financial performance across a team-oriented people-focused environment
  • Naturally curious with a change management mindset and process improvement zeal
  • Emotional intelligence and high levels of commercial judgement
  • Strong management reporting and decision support experience
  • Superior financial accounting experience
  • Previous company secretary experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong ability to collaborate with and influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter who can build relationships across the business
  • Passionate with high achievement drive and a can-do attitude
