We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Secondary School Careers Advisor and Educational Consultant to join our team at Toowoomba Grammar School.
About the PositionThis dynamic role plays a pivotal part in equipping students with the necessary skills and knowledge for a successful future. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting students with subject selections, preparing them for post-school transitions, and facilitating work experience opportunities.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the Queensland and Australian curriculums, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They will be able to demonstrate their ability to design and deliver innovative teaching programs, conduct career education classes, and provide personalized career counselling to students and parents.
In addition to their teaching expertise, the successful candidate will have a proven track record of motivating and enthusing students in their learning journey, particularly boys. They will also be proficient in leveraging technology as an integral part of the teaching process to enhance student learning outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Assist students with subject selections and prepare them for post-school transitions.
- Facilitate work experience opportunities and coordinate guest speakers.
- Liaise with community organizations and provide career counselling to students and parents.
- Design and deliver innovative teaching programs aligned with the Queensland and Australian curriculums.
- Conduct career education classes and provide personalized career guidance.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their ability and commitment to:
- Teaching Expertise: Demonstrated specialist knowledge and proficiency in designing and delivering innovative teaching programs.
- Subject Matter Knowledge: Proven specialist knowledge in the subject discipline, encompassing a comprehensive understanding of its concepts, theories, and practical applications.
- Student Engagement and Motivation: Track record of motivating and enthusing students, particularly boys, in their learning journey.
- Use of Technology in Education: Proficiency in leveraging technology as an integral part of the teaching process.
- Curriculum Development and Adaptation: Experience in collaboratively developing and evaluating curriculum materials.
- Mentoring and Pastoral Care: Experience or interest in acting as a Mentor within the school's House system.
- Contributions to School Community: Demonstrated willingness and enthusiasm to actively participate in the school's co-curricular activities.
- Professional Development and Growth: Proactive commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Alignment with School Ethos: Deep alignment with the concept of an education designed for boys.
To be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Registration or eligibility for registration as a teacher in Queensland.
- Strong understanding of the Queensland and Australian curriculums.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven track record of motivating and enthusing students.
- Proficiency in leveraging technology as an integral part of the teaching process.
- Experience in collaboratively developing and evaluating curriculum materials.
- Ability to contribute positively to the broader school community.
