Job Title: Drive Project Success in Canberra

Our organization is seeking a highly skilled Cost Manager to join our team in our Canberra office. As a Cost Manager, you will be responsible for delivering expert cost management services across various stages of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain detailed cost plans from initial concept through to project completion, ensuring accuracy and alignment with client objectives.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and value engineering exercises to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
  • Prepare and analyze tender documentation, including bills of quantities and schedules of rates.
  • Negotiate with contractors and suppliers to ensure best value for clients.
  • Monitor and report on project costs, including cash flow forecasting and cost-to-complete analyses.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and other consultants to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Utilize specialized software to enhance accuracy and efficiency in cost estimating and reporting.
  • Stay current with industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact project costs.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Recognized degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related field.
  • Minimum 3-10 years of experience in cost management roles, preferably in a consultancy environment.
  • Previous experience working on construction projects for government agencies is highly desirable.
  • Experience liaising or managing clients, contractors, and consultants.
  • Preferable RICS and/or AIQS accreditation.
  • Proficiency in specialized software.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and prepare detailed cost reports.
  • Excellent knowledge of Australian construction standards, building codes, and regulations.
  • Proven track record of delivering accurate cost plans and budgets for large-scale projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
