About the Role
The State of Queensland is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Support Teacher in the Education sector. As a Support Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting students from English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) backgrounds in learning Standard Australian English.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with students from EAL/D backgrounds to support their learning of Standard Australian English
- Help facilitate differentiated learning and create resources tailored to EAL/D students' needs
- Support the EAL/D Teacher in delivering lessons and activities focused on Standard Australian English
- Engage in administrative duties such as photocopying resources and uploading relevant data
- Assist other students in set classes, enabling classroom teachers to provide one-on-one support to EAL/D students
Requirements
- Strong ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents
- Capable of managing tasks efficiently and maintaining accurate records
- Understanding and patient when dealing with student inquiries and learning needs
- Quick to identify and resolve issues related to student support and learning
- Flexible in handling a variety of tasks and able to adapt to the dynamic school environment
- Ability to handle sensitive student information with discretion and maintain confidentiality
