This newly created part-time permanent role, Health and Safety Strategist, is part of the People & Culture Shared Services team, which provides operational support and services across the Colonial First State business and the broader People & Culture team.

Job Description

In this role, you'll drive programs of work and partner with various stakeholders to develop and implement health and safety strategies, regulatory and policy compliance and wellbeing programs.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the development and implementation of the Health and Safety Strategy, aligned with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure Colonial First State's adherence to all relevant health and safety laws, regulations, Codes of Practice and standards.
  • Support Board due diligence in HSW.
  • Review and maintain HS&W policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legislation.
  • Monitor and report on HS&W incidents and work with stakeholders to remediate root causes.
  • Case management of work-related injuries, ensuring effective and compassionate return-to-work processes.
  • Build strong relationships with regulatory bodies, acting as the central point of contact.
  • Manage the Sonder account, our safety and wellbeing partner.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in a health and safety consultant or advisory role, leading the development and implementation of health and safety strategies, programs and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex health and safety cases, with a strong understanding of claims management and health and safety legislation.
  • Experience in internal/external audit, coordinating health and safety forums and implementing actions.
  • A forward planner with the ability to dive into detail to derive key insights from business reporting but also identify emerging opportunities.
  • Demonstrated understanding of health and safety legislation, regulatory environment, and market leading health and safety practices.
