Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Clinician Role Overview

We specialise in working with adults and young people, providing a safe and supportive environment for individuals experiencing psychological distress. Our centre offers an alternative to presenting to the Emergency Department for low-risk individuals, allowing them to access support from trained mental health professionals within their community.


The role of an AOD Clinician is multifaceted, requiring comprehensive assessment, brief and ongoing interventions, risk management, and care planning. This involves working collaboratively across health service networks to plan and coordinate individualised psychosocial interventions to meet the needs of individuals with mental health issues.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert assessment and intervention services to individuals experiencing mental health issues
  • Develop and implement effective care plans that address the complex needs of clients

Requirements:
  • A General AHPRA registration as a Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Mental Health Occupational Therapist OR Mental Health Nurse OR AASW registration as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker
  • Demonstrated expertise in Brief Intervention Models of Care and commitment to professional development
  • Well-developed judgment and evaluation skills, with a strong understanding of assessment and care planning
