Job Title: Environmental Management Specialist

This role offers an opportunity to shape the city's future in a sustainable way, encompassing cultural, social, environmental, and economic aspects.

About The Role

The successful candidate will oversee staff delivering diverse projects and programs related to natural area management, ensuring alignment with council strategies and legislation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prioritize, and implement environmental projects using the council's project management framework.
  • Built relationships with internal teams, external partners, and the community to support project delivery and funding.
  • Oversee project scoping, budgeting, reporting, and contract documentation.
  • Provide specialist advice on biodiversity, sustainability, contaminated land, waterways, and contribute to strategic planning and initiatives.
  • Lead continuous improvement through technical innovation.
About You

We are looking for a leader with a recognized degree in Environmental Management or a related discipline. Candidates should have at least 10 years of experience in Natural Areas Management or similar, along with experience managing capital projects, and strong understanding of natural area management principles and relevant legislation.

Desirable skills include negotiation, advocacy, report writing, people management, policy development, budgeting, project oversight, and organizational planning, with the ability to resolve complex issues, manage priorities, and handle sensitive matters with sound judgment.
