Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Secondary Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise associated with protection relays, field devices, control devices, and auxiliary systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical input into asset management strategies and philosophies.
  • Contribute to the development of equipment standards.
  • Support the implementation of asset management and asset replacement initiatives.
  • Assess and review the condition of installed protection, control, and automation assets.
  • Investigate and analyze equipment failures or problems, drafting reports and creating remedial actions.
  • Make technical decisions in relation to protection, control, and automation schemes and devices.
  • Approve relevant technical documentation.
  • Participate in regulator and internal audits as required.
  • Provide support for emergency response events, as required.
Measures of Success

We measure our success by the following key performance indicators:

  • 100% Delivery of capex and opex works programs approvals for protection, control, and automation devices from year to year.
  • All protection, control, and automation devices documentation kept current from year to year.
  • Incident and failure investigations are completed within required timeframes to the required quality.
  • Audit and investigations actions are completed within the required timeframes.
  • Technical and operational support provided in required timeframes.
The Successful Applicant
  • Degree qualified in Engineering.
  • 5+ years of engineering/asset management experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety outcomes.
  • Understanding of Asset Management leading practices, frameworks, and relevant standards.
  • Understanding of relevant Regulatory frameworks and legislation.
  • Understanding of relevant Australian and International standards and industry codes of practice.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate failure and incident investigations.
  • Ability to connect with organizational strategy and identify what is required at a tactical level to achieve it.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing strategic asset management plans, preferably in a regulated environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of distribution system components, equipment, and technologies, with a focus on protection, control, and automation devices and emerging trends and innovations.
  • Knowledge of relevant software packages used for analysis and design of protection and control schemes - e.g., specific relay software, DigSilent.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to leverage data-driven insights to inform decision-making and optimize asset performance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • An advanced level of reasoning skills and engineering judgment.
