Project Overview:

Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets.

Headquartered in Santiago, Chile, the M&M global business unit also has offices in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia along with execution units in the United States, Peru, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India and other project locations around the world.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead a team to manage subcontracts and monitor operations. You will develop the subcontracting strategy, operating procedures, staffing plan, and the contracts section of the Project Execution Plan, reviewing and approving bid details, commitments, and negotiations.

Your oversight will ensure project subcontracting is consistent and that requirements have been implemented.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development of the Supply Chain Assignment Schedule and the division of responsibility.
  • Coordinate Contract execution plan with Engineering and Construction plans and operations to ensure that input from these disciplines will enable Contracts to perform its functions in accordance with project plans.
  • Review evaluations with global business unit functional managers and the global business unit Manager of Supply Chain.
  • Manage the Subcontract for a contract of low to medium risk or complexity.

Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Able to participate in (sub)contract negotiations.
  • Skill in working and informing effectively, both orally and in writing, with other project functional groups.
  • Knowledge of law, negotiations, accounting or cost engineering gained through education or experience.
