Committed to excellence in remote, rural, and Indigenous health, you will provide clinical supervision to undergraduate students, engage with local stakeholders, and support inter-professional learning in a remote setting.

Based in the Central Highlands of Queensland, you will travel to various communities and work in non-clinical environments, such as day-cares, schools, and aged care facilities, while communicating sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The James Cook University Central Queensland Centre for Rural and Remote Health is part of a national network of 16 University Departments of Rural Health, funded by the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training program as a workforce strategy.

This newly established centre focuses on enhancing clinical placements by integrating students into practices, services, organizations, and communities, with a strong emphasis on engaging Indigenous communities.

Service learning, an innovative approach to remote service delivery and workforce development, provides student-assisted, interprofessional services for adults and children in areas of high or unmet need, as identified by local providers and the community.
