Counsellor - Short Term Placement

This is an exciting opportunity to provide direct counselling support and other intervention services for students with mild to moderate mental health needs.

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Counsellor who can deliver professional support services, including direct counselling for students with a range of mental health issues, applying sound theoretical knowledge and practical expertise.

The ideal candidate will have experience in assessing, conceptualising, and analysing wellbeing issues, and providing evidence-based direct counselling for a range of mental health issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver professional support services to students with mental health issues.
  • Plan and implement evidence-based intervention strategies for students with complex needs.
  • Liaise with external service providers to provide support to students.
  • Contribute to policies and operational practices that guide the work of others.
  • Provide leadership and professional learning to build the capacity of schools to improve students' learning outcomes.
  • Maintain professional competence through ongoing learning and development.
Selection Criteria:
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing and analysing wellbeing issues.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective intervention strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to provide leadership and influence the work of others.
  • Clear understanding of legislative requirements regarding student health information privacy.
