Job Title: Cell Biologist

The Cell Biologist reports to the Laboratory Manager or designate and is responsible for laboratory testing performed according to established protocols. The candidate will be scheduled in Cytology and other areas of the lab as required.

• Cytology Discipline: Demonstrate aptitude in cell biology, cytology techniques, skill in performing procedures, knowledge of those procedures and the implications of Quality Control and Quality Assurance.
• Delivery of Care: Responsible for delivery of care consistent with the vision and values of the organization and standards of relevant professional organizations.
• Safety and Quality: Must comply with Occupational Health and Safety standards for the hospital and promote a safe work environment.

• Education: Current registration as a Cytotechnologist with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) - required; CSMLS registration in Cytopathology.
• Skills: Evidence of competency with respect to Cytology as per CMLTO guidelines, knowledge of Quality Control Programs and equipment maintenance, excellent technical and decision-making skills, ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment, committed to the values of the organization, excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients, visitors, and staff.

The Cell Biologist will work in a dynamic laboratory setting at Met Campus. This role requires flexibility in scheduling and willingness to rotate through various areas of the lab as needed.
